BIOLYTE is a low sugar recovery drink. If BIOLYTE didn't have any sugar, it wouldn't work effectively! The IV in a bottle contains just enough sugar (10g of dextrose) to help your body move all of the electrolytes found in BIOLYTE from the small intestine to the bloodstream. Additionally, dextrose will also help with nausea, cramps, and fatigue.
Dextrose, the sugar found in BIOLYTE, is a naturally occurring sugar that's identical to blood sugar. Since dextrose has a very simple structure, it does not require any digestion and is absorbed directly into the bloodstream. This is also why doctors will add dextrose to patients IV bags when they need energy quickly.
Erythritol is a natural sweetener that can be found in some fruits. We chose to incorporate erythritol because it doesn't affect blood sugar, doesn't cause tooth decay, and only 5% of all erythritol is absorbed by the body. This is why our calorie count stays low at 45 kcal per bottle. BIOLYTE's mix of dextrose and erythritol will facilitate rapid absorption, but not cause a blood sugar spike.
No! BIOLYTE has 10g of dextrose and roughly 8g of erythritol, for a total carbohydrate count of 20g maximum. However, 95% of erythritol does not get absorbed by the body so you only absorb about 10-11g total sugars per each 16 fl oz bottle.

It is not possible to overdose on BIOLYTE. However, we don't recommend drinking more than one to three bottles a day because it's not necessary for the average person.
