Dr. Rollins wanted to create a product that would “bring the IV bag home” to people when and where they needed it. Here is how BIOLYTE, the IV in a bottle, came to be.
Dr. Rollins' Background
Dr. Rollins, the inventor of BIOLYTE, is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Specialist. He has spent the last 37 years coming up with patient specific formulas to address his patients daily, changing needs. How he tacked these evolving needs was through the use of IV Hydration Therapy and Hyperalimentation.
After gastrointestinal (ie. digestive tract) surgeries, most patients were required to not eat anything solid (ie. NPO “nothing by mouth”) for many days. Dr. Rollins would prescribe fluid and electrolyte replacement through the use of IV rehydration therapy. Plus, when needed Hyperalimentation or the use of IV replacement of fluid, electrolytes, and nutritional supplementation to make sure his patients were getting all the nutrition that they needed.
In 2005, when Dr. Rollins’ wife, Jeannine, was diagnosed with breast cancer, he began to realize two things: IV hydration therapy, while extremely effective, is often intensive, costly, and inaccessible. Plus, more readily available options like sports drinks are not effective at properly hydrating or replacing vital electrolytes and nutrients needed when you are not feeling well.
By combining his knowledge of IV Hydration Therapy, nutritional supplementation, and the positive benefits of the existing hydration products on the market, Dr. Rollins set out to create a product that would “bring the IV bag home” to people when and where they needed it. Thus, the idea of BIOLYTE, the IV in a bottle, was born.
BIOLYTE, the IV in a Bottle
BIOLYTE has the same amount of electrolytes as a 500mL Lactated Ringer (IV bag), plus additional vitamins and minerals to help combat dehydration, nausea, and fatigue. Additionally, our physician formulated liquid supplement helps the liver get rid of toxins and function at peak capacity. All of BIOLYTE’s ingredients work together to help you recover quicker so you can feel better faster.
