We have an old tree in our backyard that is very much dead 💀 - no leaves, mangled thin branches, and paper-like, greying bark. 

Every time I pull out of my driveway, I always think to myself… “I gotta take care of that tree.” 

This realization has probably happened 47 times.

I’ve thought about that damn tree so much, it practically waves to me every morning I leave for work 👋🏻! 

My behavior makes a lot of sense to me especially after taking the Positive Intelligence quiz at one of my Vistage meetings. 

Positive Intelligence lays out which Saboteurs 👹 (overactive negative voices) afflict you the most. Positive intelligence teaches you how you can overcome these Saboteurs 👹 by leaning into your Sage 🧙🏻‍♀️ (your best, most positive self).

To my surprise (jk…ish), one of my top 3 Saboteurs was called, “The Avoider.” 🙅🏼‍♀️

The Avoider 🙅🏼‍♀️ tries to protect you by avoiding pain and discomfort in the short term, but can slowly but surly, if left to its own devices, turn a dead tree 🌲 into an insurance nightmare. 😭💸

I’m learning that the best thing I can do as a leader is to be self aware, and Positive Intelligence is one of my tools that I’ve used to do so.
