Nutrition & Ingredients

Why is there 700mg of sodium in BIOLYTE?

The sodium count in BIOLYTE is essential in the distribution of water and other electrolytes throughout the body. Sodium Chloride is a naturally occurring mineral that when combined with sugar treats dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. The average person's kidneys are able to filter out this amount of sodium through sweat, urine, or waste- making it perfectly safe for most people to consume.

Why is sugar needed in BIOLYTE?

If BIOLYTE didn't have sugar, it wouldn't work effectively! BIOLYTE contains just enough sugar (10g of dextrose) to help your body move all of the electrolytes found in BIOLYTE from the small intestine to the bloodstream. It's a process called sodium-glucose cotransport. Additionally, dextrose will also help with nausea, cramps, and fatigue.

Why is dextrose better for you than other sugars?

Dextrose, the sugar found in BIOLYTE, is a naturally occurring sugar that's identical to blood sugar. Since dextrose has a very simple structure, it does not require any digestion and is absorbed directly into the bloodstream. This is also why doctors will add dextrose to patients IV bags when they need energy quickly. Sucrose, on the other hand, is far too large for direct absorption and requires digestion using the enzyme sucrase which is found in the small intestine.

What's Erythritol and why is it in BIOLYTE?

Erythritol is a natural sweetener that can be found in some fruits. We chose to incorporate erythritol because it doesn't affect blood sugar, doesn't cause tooth decay, and only 5% of all erythritol is absorbed by the body. This is why our calorie count stays low at 40 kcal per bottle. BIOLYTE's mix of dextrose and erythritol will facilitate rapid absorption, but not cause a blood sugar spike.

Am I actually absorbing 26g of Carbohydrates?

No! BIOLYTE has 10g of dextrose and 16g of erythritol, for a total carbohydrate count of 26g. However, 95% of erythritol does not get absorbed by the body so you only absorb about 10-11g total sugars per each 16 fl oz bottle.

Can I see BIOLYTE's Supplement Label?

BIOLYTE's Supplement Label is available on the Ingredients page.

Why is BIOLYTE more hydrating than water?

BIOLYTE uses two different kinds of salts that are key for rapid dehydration relief - Sodium Chloride (Na+Cl-) and Potassium Chloride (K+Cl-) salts. Both types of electrolytes keep more water in your body, thus hydrating you more effectively than plain water.

What does BIOLYTE taste like?

BIOLYTE has 3 flavors: Citrus, Berry, and Tropical. Citrus tastes like a saltier lemon-lime sports drink. Berry has a sweeter profile with hints of strawberry and raspberry. Tropical tastes like a flavorful beach smoothie. BIOLYTE is not as sweet as a typical sports drink.

Does it matter when I drink BIOLYTE, and how long does it take to work?

It doesn't matter what time of day you drink BIOLYTE. Regardless of your reason for consumption, it does take approximately 30-minutes to feel the full effects of our supplement.

Does BIOLYTE make you urinate more frequently?

If that is the case, make sure to consult with your physician.

No. It is not possible to overdose on BIOLYTE, but we don't recommend drinking more than one to three bottles a day because it's not necessary for the average person.
