The Yurt - Thirsty Thursday with CEO, Jesslyn Rollins

“What’s the story behind the picture 🖼️ in your office?”

This photo is a picture of the BIOLYTE’s headquarters in 2017 - 2019. People often wonder how BIOLYTE kept expenses so low in the early years. Well, one person worked out of a tent ⛺️ and the other worked out of her car 🚙. That helps. LOL🤣.

Props to my man, Kelly Harrah, for sticking it out with me.💙

Story time 📖

We had a lower barn on our family’s farm property in Canton, GA burn down. Our Caretaker’s Bluetick Coonhound had puppies 🐶 in the middle of winter. When the puppies got bigger, they knocked over their heat lamp, and it lit the shavings on fire 🔥. While the puppies got out, everything else was incinerated.

It was one of the biggest fires in Canton’s history.

The fire happened right around the time my middle sister was getting married and BIOLYTE 💦 showed up at my parents home in Atlanta, GA. My family used the insurance money to not only build a space fit for a farm wedding, but also something that BIOLYTE could be warehoused in - the garage in Atlanta was getting pretty crowded.

The barn wasn’t heated - sitting on those chilly toilet seats was not fun! I had to wear a ski suit to work in the winter. If you know how cold-natured I am, you understand 🥶!

To make sure I was warm enough during the winter, my dad bought a shade tent ⛺️, wrapped it in plastic wrap, and stuck a space heater in it for warmth🧤. We lovingly named it “The Yurt” after the round portable huts that are all over Steambeat Springs, CO - where my family has been skiing for three generations. 🎿

The girl that sat in that tent dreamed of the day when she had a great team she could depend on 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. Dreamed of a toilet seat that was room temperature 🚽. And dreamed of hearing, “Oh yea. I’ve heard of BIOLYTE. I love that stuff!” 🥲

I keep this photo right behind me in my office to remind me of how far we have come as a company. To remind me to be grateful for the challenges we face today because they have stemmed from our success. And to remind me, and whoever is sitting across from me, that I will do anything - even work in The Yurt - for BIOLYTE.

LYTE it up,
